Building our Launch Excellence Capabilities to become a Launch Powerhouse

Summary of work

As a healthcare organisation with its headquarters for emerging markets in Singapore, across Asia-Pacific, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa, Mundipharma now touches the lives of patients in 128 countries across six continents. From 2010 to 2017, Mundipharma has seen double-digit growth and identified from the outset that building capabilities in Launch Excellence was going to be critical to realising ambitious plans for growth aligned to our values of patient-centricity, innovation and entrepreneurialism. In collaboration with Uptake Strategies, Mundipharma created a Launch Excellence platform to define the Mundipharma way of launching new products supported by launch planning and implementation tools and a cross-functional, multichannel global training programme. In 2017, the Regional Commercial Excellence team based in Singapore created a new Launch Excellence Toolkit which was rolled-out across 15 countries, engaging 60 cross-functional teams to further strengthen the organisation’s Launch Excellence capabilities. Designed as a one-stop shop for Brand Managers in a simple and easy to use format, the Toolkit has created a further step-change in Mundipharma’s Launch Excellence capabilities, has a 95% satisfaction rating and is being used across 50 new product launches in 2018 across pain, respiratory, oncology and oncology supportive care.

Judges’ comments

This was a strong, ambitious programme by Mundipharma and Uptake Strategies. Good acknowledgement that one size won’t fit all in speciality markets and the judges liked the positive feedback and honest learnings.
