Roche-Government Cote d’Ivoire Partnership
by Roche
Summary of work
Since 2014, Roche has partnered with the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Côte d’Ivoire to pioneer innovative approaches that expand access to quality healthcare solutions in the region. This partnership employs a hybrid model that integrates infrastructural support, innovative commercial arrangements, and digital health solutions to improve patient outcomes and strengthen the local health system.
Between 2020 and 2024, this collaboration doubled the annual number of breast cancer patients treated, increased the five-year survival rate from 20% to 56%, and generated socio-economic benefits worth 55 million EUR. These outcomes were achieved through AI-assisted care pathways, extensive training for healthcare providers, and innovative funding solutions co-developed with local stakeholders.
Our mission is to build a sustainable healthcare ecosystem in Côte d’Ivoire, setting a new benchmark for impactful partnerships in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

It had an extremely impressive public/private partnership and a clear needs assessment, conducted with stakeholders across government, NGO, HCPs and international partnership, which highlighted gaps in care. It had tangible outcomes, which reflect why we are in this business. This submission is also a great example of less is more.
