For healthcare decision makers (HCDMs), the main information gap challenges in adopting biosimilars are keeping up with landscape changes, efficiently accessing clinical data for formulary decisions, and navigating a constantly evolving regulatory environment that can cause confusion and hesitancy in using biosimilars.
The Biosimilar Hub on FormularyDecisions® is a complementary, online, up-to-date, information repository that supports United States (US) HCDMs in biosimilar formulary decision making and was built to overcome information technology obstacles and increase biosimilar usage. Resources include biosimilar landscape information, indications, curated articles, and state-specific substitution laws. Additionally, HCDMs can “click out” from the Hub to product-specific pages where manufacturer-provided product information is accessible. These resources are critical, given the rapidly evolving biosimilar landscape – more than half of the biosimilars in the US were approved in the last 4 years. The Hub continues to evolve to meet HCDMs’ needs and the environment, raising awareness of the biosimilar landscape.
Biosimilar HCDM activity on the FormularyDecisions platform increased by nearly 500% over the past 3 years; this increased activity mirrors the biosimilar market’s growth. As the largest active online HCDM community in the US, FormularyDecisions is well-positioned to connect HCDMs with valuable biosimilar resources.
