Innovative Coaching to Create Measurable Impact
Summary of work
In the face of intensifying market competition and dynamic developments within new therapy areas, GSK recognised the opportunity in enhancing its commercial capabilities and nurturing adaptive mindsets across its organisation. Collaborating with consultancy Rubica, GSK embarked on an initiative to identify both the strengths and growth opportunities within its commercial teams to deliver further performance gains and create even greater differentiated value within their respective therapy areas. Among the priority areas, the coaching capabilities of First Line Managers (FLMs) stood out as especially important. GSK’s commercial excellence leadership recognised that by expanding FLMs capabilities and mindsets, the organisation would be able to better support in-field teams, enhance customer interactions, and ultimately deliver more differentiated value. With Rubica, GSK co-developed a programme that led to impressive results within just 3-months of it being instigated.
Judges’ comments
“Innovative Coaching to Create Measurable Impact” was a focused and well-executed capability programme that transformed coaching from a procedural skill into a performance driver. The clarity of purpose, co-creation approach, and behavioural insight make it credible and replicable. Early results show genuine impact, with managers coaching differently and teams engaging more deeply. A practical and people-centred example of mindset change done right.
