Patient Freedom with Care Closer to Home

by Ipsen

Summary of work

Ipsen provides a Homecare service to support patients with their injections for one of its key Oncology products, which requires administration subcutaneously. Through close relationships with Homecare providers, NHS centres, and clinicians, Ipsen has continuously monitored the effectiveness of this service. Specifically, adherence to logistical and clinical KPIs and crucially how patients respond to the service and whether there has been a positive outcome from it.
Following an internal review of the Ipsen programme in 2022 the team decided to revise the service to give a more Patient-Centric experience and empower patients through work carried out by our Homecare nursing providers. It was a bold decision to make such a significant change due to time, resource, and financial implications but the results have been transformative. More patients are now able to administer their own injections which gives them increased freedom and autonomy to manage their treatment and avoid time-consuming visits to hospital for injection appointments.
